Real wired service from wiredtree.com

Hi, today I am writing to share one of my painful experience with wiredtree.com. I do web development for almost 5 years and during this time I had to buy domains and hosting services from various renowned companies all across the world. Recently I decided to buy a hosting service from wiredtree.com. But it fails due to some ridiculous and shameful requirements from wiretree.com.

I am from Asia and I have a payoneer credit card. Normally I do online transactions by using this credit card. I bought domains and hosting from godaddy.com, rackspace.com and crazydomains.com.au by using my this credit card. But what happened with wiredtree.com?

When I first placed my order they replied me with this-

To be able to further process your order I will need some additional information from you. At your earliest convenience could you please provide to us a photocopy of your government issued ID. We would need both the front and back of your id if your local government uses two sides.

I also see that you placed your order with a credit card. We would also need a photocopy of both the front and back side of this card as well.

Now tell me how they can expect that one will scan his full credit card and send it to wiredtree.com’s customer support team to verify. Why they did this? Surely the main reason is I am from Asia. Because few months ago one of my Canadian client bought this product and he was able to buy this product normally. But they made a difference with me as I am an Asian.

What I did, I send them a copy of my national ID card. and I also sent them a scan version of my credit card and I disclosed only the last 4 digits from my credit card. Revealing the all 16 digits seems illogical to me.

It was going well they was just suppose to release the hosting for me. In the very next day I again mailed them to release my hosting account. Then they again told me to send them a copy of my ID card and that was enough for me. I immediately told them to cancel the account. And I am so sure that they will return my cash.

But I just wondered to see the discriminatory attitude from wiredtree.com. As a computer engineer, as a web developer I gained reputation from people all across the world. But this wiredtree.com people have shown me that still I am not enough qualified to have their $50 service. I think they only welcome first world people. I waited for almost 3 days and have written 5-6 discussion mails to them and the result is this.

  1. Hi, I just found this post after receiving a reply from wiredtree.com. This is the same reply that KAFI provided above. It really shocked me as today I can’t even thing about sharing my NIC details on the Internet (with any company). As far as my credit card is concerned, why should I disclose this to their support. How can they key my information confidential. Just for instance, (SUPPOSE EVEN IF IT CAN BE A RARE CASE) if my credit is used on INTERNET right after I disclose its information to WiredTree.com support guys in the form of photocopy, will WiredTree.com ever accept the responsibility? No They Will Not!

So for the above reason which is very obvious sign of discrimination, I would SAY NO TO WIREDTREE.COM

Why? Because WIRETREE.COM needs extra verification from my because I am from ASIA, they will not even call me for phone verification unless, I will provide them my NIC and CREDIT CARD photocopies BUT They will charge my card at once. Very clever.

One of the worst experiences of my life when I was expecting the best.

  2. Yes, definitely it is a shame for wiredtree service. I will never send a scan of my credit card to anyone, regardless their requirements are!
